View Full Version : Need some help!!!!!
If I am right I have built a LAN for my two computers, the problem is I can get one computer to work, but not the other one. Vice verse. All I want is to share my cable modem with the two. I've been at this for a week. Now for the hardware. Both computers
OS 98se
NICs SOHOware fast auto10\100 pci fast ethernet card
One Intellinet ative networking 5port 10\100 SOHO Switch.
ran with cat5 wiring.
I have RCN for ISP running Toshiba PCx2500 cable modem.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong but someones got to know how to fix this. Thank you

Do you have two ip addresses from your isp? If not, then you need a router to connect to your modem. A switch cannot share a single IP among machines. A NAT router can.

If the switch has a nice color you can use it for decoration.
Once you have a functional network, sharing files and printers is a software setting thing, it is not a Network's Hardware function.
Log to the following page.
Scroll down, in the middle (yellow hi-lited) you will find info, and links to solve sharing problems.
