....really, really far up his a$$.

Win2K server, I have problems with IE crashing. So I was installing windows updates one at a time, till IE started crashing again (after a fresh install of the op-sys)

Well when IE started crashing again, I went back and uninstalled the last update that I had installed.

Now Outlook and Outlook Express don't work anymore. Outlook Express won't even open, I get two errors

This one first, I have 512 megs of ram with a 280 gig raid 5.

This one second after I hit OK, (where can I donwload a full install of outlook express?)

Here's what Outlook XP does when I hit send/receive,

I have since installed ALL of Microsoft's critical updates and updated from IE 5 to IE 6. I'm sooo tired of these problems.

It's kind of fun when you first start learning this stuff, but as time goes along, it's no longer fun. I've gone into a complete rage at times.

Maybe you would be happier with Linux?

Just a suggestion, uninstall all the updates and run sfc.

Wondering what's physically wrong with that server, bad RAM, CPU, ribbon cable to the HD's. I've never seen such a smattering of problems in such a short period of time.

The only times I've had issues with IE is due to spy/adware, or a virus. With Outlook Express, a couple of times with a corrupted e-mail hosing the mailbox store...that's an easy fix. With full blown Outlook as a POP3 client..hmmm, since Outlook 98..not really any. 97 was a pain, but 98 on up..fine.

And this is out of an aweful lot of computers.

You're Outlook XP error...sometimes when changing the same e-mail profile...it can get corrupted. Remove all e-mail profiles, and create a new one. You will not lose your PST. Also do you use a different POP3 host than you get your bandwidth from?

I've already deleted and added the accounts again, and my mail is through Cox, which is my ISP. pop.east.cox.net and smtp.east.cox.net.

At this point I'm almost tired of troubleshooting it, as much as I hate to, I might wind up formatting again. At least my data is on the raid 5, and my op-sys is actually on different drive which is connected to the first IDE channle.

Red Hat 8.

I know you are smart enough to handle Linux. It's different, not difficult.

Leave the dark side. :)

Thanks, but that's not it either. Even if I go right to the program folder and click on outlook directly it won't open.

I know what you mean. I just had a class on XP, first time I really spent some time with this OS. Just 1 example of the BS re-arranging stuff. When you have System-Display Properties-Settings tab open. The little boxes that have where you select the resolution (1024x768, for example), and where you select the color, (HIGH COLOR or TRUE COLOR, etc.) Can you tell me why on Earth they had to swap them from prior versions of Windows? Other than just something for the programmers to do.
