I just finished reinstalling my Win2K PRO system after it got hosed. I noticed something about Sygate (smc.exe).
Before the OS reinstallation, smc.exe used to take 7 minutes and 99% CPU to start up when I boot into the system.
Now after reinstalling the OS, I find that the firewall starts up in the blink of an eye and does not take up any CPU resources at all.
Does this mean that my old installation of Sygate (or W2K) could have possibly been infected by a Trojan?
