I use adelphia and I really have no idea how cable modems work and the whole service, all i know is that i have one :) If I were to split the cable going to my cable modem and buy another cable modem to hook up to the second cable:

Is it even possible to do it or does the cable service (Adelphia in Buffalo NY) have a way to only let one cable modem hook up?

Would the speeds be any faster with the cable line being split to get to the modems?

thx

no, it would not be any faster. Adelphia only will let 1 cable modem that it knows about on your line. But, if you want faster speeds we can help you tweak;)

Years ago (3 or 5) SYGATE had a product that allowed you to take 2 dial up modems and allow you to connect both to your ISP. Assuming your provider allows multiple connects on the same account.

I believe the product is no longer supported by the company and I recall that it was named "Net Rocker". I had used it on Concentric Net and had 2 56K modems working in tandum (2 phone lines needed). The data through put was some what higher and I remmber it worked with Gozilla while pulling files. Beyound that I saw it to be of little value for the cost of the 2nd phone line needed. At the time it did not supported cable modems and am not sure if DSL was supported. I think it was but never tested it that way.
