I just picked up battlefield 1942 a couple of days ago and i have few questions i can't seem to answer myself. First off when im a scout and i look out in my binoculars and spot a target for artillary...What exacly is the "ARTILARY"? i know ships can use it, but whatelse? do the tanks use it? how about the planes?
thanks for the help
jbkm
defguns, battleship and destroyer artillary can use the scout's view. when you look through your binoculars, a green area of view pops up in the minimap of anybody who is in an "artillary" vehicle or defgun.
if say you are in a bship, and a scout looks through his binoculars, you will hear "i have a target for artillary" through the team comms, a green field of view will appear on your minimap. then you can right-click and see what the scout sees. you can then use the horizontal and vertical sliders in your view to adjust your fire. it;s really pretty tricky to get used to, but it can be very effective against a target off in the distance out of view.
the planes don;t have artillary capability. i can;t remember if the tanks do or not.

btw thanks for the heads up
yeah, there's mobile artillery (looks like a tank) like the American Priest and German Wespe.
artillery is where teamwork can really pay off.

okay kewl...just wish someone would give me a target when i ask for one!
Now onto the flight aspect! Ive been tryign my luck with flying..have my joystick setup pretty nice now..seems to be working with throttle and a cheap way to setup the rutters. Anyway why does it seem like my plane stalls out way to easy? i can't seem to build up enough altitude to dive bomb worth a crap...what is that about?
any tips on that?
thanks

are you building up enough speed right after take off first? if you try and do any drastic maneuvers (heavy rudder, heavy elevator, etc) right after you leave the ground you can stall and/or go out of control. allow yourself to gain speed after your wheels leave the ground before you try and make a steep ascent. also, are you totally sure you are at full throttle? you should be able to do a full loop from straight and level flight at full throttle, especially in a fighter. dive bombers are hideously slow and handle like a river barge. fighters are faster and more agile.
also.... have you calibrated the throttle on your joystick (in game controller properties) just to make sure full throttle on the joystick is being seen as full throttle in it;s properties?
