View Full Version : So am I a new Folding member or what?
Joint Chiefs of Staff

I loaded the console programs and that's it?
I used Joint Chiefs of Staff for my user name and Team 15.
That's it?
I'm embarrassed to say the least. I should have been folding for a long time now. I lost my pop to cancer in '99, and both grandfathers in '94. Hell I even had a bout of the evil stuff in '95 and into '96.
I hope to do my part.
I'll be throwing folding on my home pc when I'm out on the field. I'll explain to my wife Jen what's it all about. I might even have her put it on all the pc's at the office. Something like 20-40 I believe. I'll let you know what her IT guy thinks of it.
How does this all work with dial up? I mean we just moved and have no broadband access at home and I mostly have dial up access on the field.
Hey JCOS, glad to see you aboard :) I just got into it myself and I can tell you it's strangely addictive :D I find myself checking team progress and personal standings every morning....lol!

Gotta a Link! I want to be on top of that list. :D
Hey what does this mean in the console window?
[timestamp] Finished a frame (1)
[timestamp] Finished a frame (2)
[timestamp] Finished a frame (3)

JCOS,
Different Proteins show up in different ways on you console. Some have 100 steps, some 400. Looks like you've got one thats 400 steps. You can figure how long it will take your machine to finish by checking timestamp per frame and multipying by number of steps. There's also a list of the points given for each protein. Lot of posts in the team forum with links to different Stanford sites to check team and individual standings.
Here's the points link:

It's good to see your folding JCOS. I've been working on putting it on a few client rigs at work as a service. It seems stable so far. Servers seem out because there are few unused cycles and it's not worth the risk.

Welcome to the fold. Hee Hee
I keep track of what we call different clubs on the team. The entire list is stickied somewhere near the top of this forum called 'Club Members'.
It has a few of the different URL's that can be used to check different things concerned with folding. Here is one of the newest which hasn't been added yet, but is very neat.

We are in 17th place currently over all the teams that have joined the folding community and have a bead on the 16th place team. With your additional input into our team we may be able to take aim at even higher placed teams.
If you can get your wife's work to add their computers to our team that will be a very big boost.
I look forward to when you finish your first work unit and can be added to our list.
Welcome and ask away, someone here should know some sort of answer to give you.
Rick
Edit:
I did a very detailed install post at the end of the post 'Folding Tweaks Details' if you want to take a look at it.
