When I installed AVG all my .BIN files suddenly show up as AVG Update Files.
Any ideas how I can rectify this annoying situation?
Thanks
Haven't had the problem here but what I suggest you do is open AVG main program, click Help button and select Technicalm Support.
Make sure you are completely describing your problem and include your registration number in the request. It may take a few days for a reply.
I would say they will respond. With the change to a new version soon they would want to keep their "free" Version 6 users alive and happy so they can sell them the new version. :nod:
BTW........ Welcome to Speedguide. Enjoy your stay. :D

Post back if you get this resolved.

Thanks What were the BIN files associated with before? You can change the file association back to whatever it was before using the assoc command in the DOS prompt. Or you can select the "open with" menu item and associate with whatever program it was associated with before. This should not be a big deal.

Croc. Croc,
I believe you probably do. Type the command "assoc .bin" at the DOS prompt and if you get
.bin=AVG.Update
then you have the exact same problem that he has (although I would not use the word "Problem" to describe this)

Well, for me it actually IS a problem. What the .bin files are associated with really doesn't matter.
I would like my .bin files to be .bin files, and my AVG backups to be associated with something else.
Thanks for the tips anyway.

Comes up as Bad Command or file name.
Tried it with the space as you show in your post and with the space closed. Both have the same answer.
UberNewb..... Did you try the support link to Grisoft's technicalm support?
