Ok I am not a complete novice, but all this adsl,dsl,pppoa, is getting to me.

I installed a Conexant Accessrunner Pci Adsl card, set it up as my isp said(pppoa ,wan ect) My win XP reads it as an isdn, my connection type reads 64k didgital, my advertised speed is 512kbps and I connect at 576.0kbps.

My test readout is as follows,

TCP options string = 020405b40103030201010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 256960
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 2 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240

RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 10278.4 kbps (1284.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 4111.36 kbps (513.92 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 59 hops

TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000

My bandwith speed test is comming back as 476.0kbps

Is this about right, have I set my rwin right, and WHY AM I NOT PINGABLE???I have set up nis with the ip adresses to allow ping on dslreports,and my ipconfig wont ping my comp name only my ip which constantly changes everytime i log on, WHY.please help.

What is nis, please?

Your IP will normally change each time you sign on when you have ADSL with either pppoa or pppoe.

You shouldn't be able to ping you computer name - you can only ping an IP address or a resolveable URL.

nis Norton internet Security...My dlsreport keeps comming back unpingable, in information they surgested becoming pingable if i wanted to run any basic packet loss tests, to do this i had to configure my Norton Anti Virus, which i did, still not pingable.

In xp help it said if i could not ping my comp name it was resolved to wrong ip address???

Norotn Internet Security is very likely what is blocking your pings.

In order to ping a host, there has to be a way to resolve the host name to an IP. In your configuration there is nothiing to do that.
