So far, mine would have to be XP just due to how many things I can plug in and have it work and how stable it seems to be.
A bad point for me right now with it is that I keep getting that "~" file from Outlook Express.
*shrug*
What is your favorite Windows flavor and why ?
:)
98SE
Most stable, less bloated than newer versions, easy to work in, all my programs work, I'm used to it, my hardware works great with it. Easy to fix it. I don't need any NT stuff.
Full install takes up a mear 200 MB of drive space.
Most of all, it has Dos mode :D

I just installed 98SE on my in-laws' computer after taking XP off and I can't believe how fast it installs and runs. It's almost like upgrading your PC. LOL
Make sure you VOTE in the POLL !!! :)
Presently, I dig win2k more than the others because it's faster. Up until a few months ago, I was using 98FE over the others. 98SE is OK too with ALL system updates and security updates. (without the updates SE has issues w/ drivers for most hardware prior to the y2k. All the programs I used reguilarly in 98 work well in 2k.

XP, by a narrow margin over 2K :)
LOL
Someone voted for WinME but won't admit it.
Can't blame whoever it is.
I wouldn't admit that either lol :D
I just moved from win98se to W2K about 2 months ago on both my machines. 2K seems to work fine. It's just that I spent so many years on 98se I had a hard time convincing myself to change over. I'm happy with the move and it appears to be a bit more stable. Although I'm not jumping up and down thinking it's a godsend. Just a good OS

Favorite flavor for what?
NT 4 I loved, esp server.
95....pretty good, never really had a problem with it
98se I love...
2K I love
XP I love
I gave the nod to XP though.
Let me add to my above post reasons why I lime 2k better than 98's:
I use Paint Shop Pro a lot. In 98, PSP leaks memory but rarely leaks any in 2k. It also opens and closes faster in 2k.
EZCD creator is always slow at cleaning up after itself and closing out completely, a bit faster in 2k when shutting it down.
In general, all apps seems to run a bit quicker in 2k and are more efficient die to 2k's handling of memory.

I'm pretty sure that in the question, I put "what is your favorite flavor of Windows as an OS ?".
:D
Never thought I'd be saying it, but.... XP (Pro only- Home is another story). It is every bit as stable as 2000, my past fave. It really is great for laptops.
I always liked NT 4.0, when it was the only server OS, but compared to 2000, well.... no more. I really like 2000 server, as well as Exchange 2000. We'll see if Server 2003 is all it's cracked up to be. I think I'll put it on one of my webservers next week.
95 was always a "work in progress", but a big improvement over 3.11. 98 is certainly compatible with just about everything, but I never liked the memory leaks, freeze ups, and constant re-boots if you were doing any real work with it. And for networking- forget it. Too sloppy- too open. But, games sure like it, especially the older ones. I have to keep my wife's PC as dual-boot to 98 for my daughter's games.
As for ME...... I think enough has been said about that already. :p
I chose 2k.
Where's the Nix choices?

I find it remarkable that a 5 year old OS (98SE) is still highly regarded as a great one. That is really saying something good about MS.
:)
