Problem with Diablo 2 Expansion

I always make backups of my software so I can keep my originals in tip top in case I ever get tired of it and want to sell it. For some strange reason the backup will not work properly it will not start the game it will install but not start? Is it some sort of copy protection or is it my burner or my burning software? I use a no name external USB 2.0 drive and Nero Burning ROM V.5.5.8.2 bundled. Thanx in advance for any help you may be able to give me. The world of PCs are not so complex but sometimes very confusing. Millions of things can go wrong with something for no reason.

does it say "no cd is in the cd drive, please insert the cd and press ok" or something like that? and then it says ok continue and cancel or something real close to that? if so then it is the copy protection, i do the same thing, you can try to use clonecd but im not sure if it will work. what you can do is get a no cd loader from www.sitemagik.net(very reputable d2 site with no trojans or anything or that sort). then read the instruction on how to use the loader. then you can put your diablo 2 disk away in its nice little case and eveyrthing will be nice. works for reg and expansion. cant wait for 1.10 :rolleyes: (never coming out lol)

I just got CloneCd what should the settings be so I can get this game to work.

Some CD burners can't burn copies of CDs that use SafeDisc or other copy-protection systems, even if you use CloneCD to make a pristine disk image. Lite-Ons can burn just about anything, but some burners just can't do it.

yes that is true. my old philips burned game discs pretty good while my tdk just wont burn them like i thought it would. now im looking for a new burner for my comp that is good at dealing with music and buring copy protected games such as d2. as for clone cd, i think you can just use the settings that are already there, and see if it works. i remember with my tdk tho, even with clone cd and diablo it was a no go. if it doesnt work just get the loader, then you can just put the disc away and you wont need it to play the game and risk scratching it or whatever.
