Here are some statistics from my 3Com 812 ADSL modem. I was just wondering if these are normal for my DSL connection which my phone company says is 1M/128K? I'm not complaining by any means as I connect way over what they say. I hope they don't throttle me back.:) Many speed tests put my over 2Mbps.

ADSL Statistics
Operational Mode - Operational
Upstream Attenuation - 21.5 dB
Upstream Signal-to-Noise Ratio - 29.0 dB
Transmit Power - 12.0 dBm
Negotiated Downstream Baud Rate - 2976000 bps
Negotiated Upstream Baud Rate - 288000 bps

Edit: Will a moderator please move this to the proper forum.

Yes. Absolutely. Every ISP I have ever heard of gives their customer more than they pay for. All of them.

Have you gotten your first bill yet?

Yeah, the bill says 1M/128K and is for $44.95. I started with 384K/128K for $39.95, so this increase is not bad at all. The modem status page with 384K/128K said exactly that and my speed tests were averaging 320K/110K. Now my speed tests are averaging around 2.2M/240K.:D

The reason I heard for the change was that some customers were complaining about getting disconnected or slow speeds, so they decided to open the pipe and charge $5 more. I had no problems before and still have no problems. BTW, the connection is PPPoA with dynamic IP. I've read here on the forum some real horror stories people are having with phone company DSL. I guess my phone company did it right. Maybe, because they are a small company. For what its worth, the company is Frontier, formerly Citizens Coimmunications.
