Champ Cars test at PIR

They were testing at PIR and I got to go out on the island all by my lonesome!! It was awesome, even though I only had about 45 mins out there. Great to get a dose of methonal to keep my going until the race in June.

Yeah. That was my first car shoot with the D60. Still getting used to it. Depth of field was a little thin on those shots.

Practice. Practice.

I gotta run out there and shoot a few SCCA events before the big one. Hopefully by then I'll have my 10D also.

Those are terrific photos, Dakota.

Depth of field is zilch with a telly at a large ap. It takes both practice and luck when they're coming at you like that.

Thanks Poptom. The problem is that I don't shoot these guys that often. By the time the weekend's over, then I'm a pro!! ;)

That's why I need to get out the the track to shoot some SCCA stuff and get my routine down before the Champ Cars arrive in June.

Yes. I was on the island between pit lane and the actual track.

You have to have a reason. It's not for fans.

Dakota, can you please explain how you get access? I am really interested in doing some races, how and who should I look to approach, what do I say?

Unless you're media (recognized media news service), you won't get the access. There's no other magic way to get that type of access. Unless you're a member of the media, it just doesn't happen. The closest fans get are paddock access.
