how do I remove the backround color from icons in XP so that its transparent?

Right-click My Computer > Properties > Advanced tab > Performance Settings > Visual Effects > Tick the 'Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop' option (second to last option)

Its already checked, It has never looked like this before its wierd. Its a fresh install of XP

Is your desktop color depth set to 32-bit? If it is, set it to 16-bit, apply and then go back to 32-bit.

I forgot I locked web items on my desktop so I could watch TV as my desktop backround.
