I just installed broadband on a NT4 server, that also have exchange server 5.5
Installation work smoothly, users able to browse the internet.

The problem::
users are able to receive email from anyone, but unable to send email to other email provider except our company domain.

example:
joe@mycompany can send to tom@mycompany, but can't send to someone@microsoft.com

The company domain is being host on a webhosting company.

Before changging to broadband, the email is working and can send email to anyone. I tried ask the tech support of the router but they say it was not the router problem.
I also tried stoping all the exchange server services and start them again.

anyone know solutions for this? THX!

I run an exchange 2000 system so I hope I can help you out.

Are you getting any errors in your client software? ie:Outlook. Are you getting NDR's sent back or do they just go to the land of unknown? Are you using SMTP connectors or just the default SMTP protocol? Are the users mail program set to authenticate. Are you set for open relay and if so has your ISP shut you down?

hi sid,

Yes there is error when sending the mail, the client will receive notification from the admin stating:
Unable to deliver the message due to communication failure
MSEXCH:IMS:BPI:bpi:BPI3902(000B099C) Host Unknown

bpi is the server name

no changes is being made on the ms-outlook neither the ms-exch after i upgrade to broadband
so for the SMTP and aunthentication settings i really dunno

Not sure if this will help you out but you can give it a shot. I think I would try flushing the cached DNS first.

Do you (or did you before) use forwarders to your ISP to queue your mail? In the Exchange console, go to the Connections tab, Internet Mail Service, and see if the option "Message Delivery" has "forward all messages to host" checked, and if so, should it? Many ISP's will offer to relay your mail for you (including iinbound if your server is down) and this is where you specify whether or not to do it, and where to forward it. If this is entered improperly to forward to the old host (assuming it's a different ISP) your mail can't get out, because it can't reach the relay host.
