I am a tweakaholic, I havent had much time lately to tweak my computer and have been out of the loop for awhile. If anyone has any advice for my settings please let me know!

Last time I tweaked my computer was about 1 1/2 years ago!!!!

TCP options string = 020405b40103030401010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 531440
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 4 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 33215

RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:

Your RcvWindow limits you to: 21257.6 kbps (2657.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 8503.04 kbps (1062.88 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 31 hops

TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349) = 00000000

Here are my cablenut settings I AM USING CABLENUT V.4.02.0016

BDSurgent 1
Default Recieve Window 531440
Default Send Window 14336
SackOpts 1
Max Connections Per1_0Server 32
Max Connections Per Server 16
Default TTL 48
EnableDNS 0
Lanabase 0
Local copy made 1
MaxConnections 200
Size/Small/Medium/Large 3
MaxdupAcks 3
MaxMSS 1460
MaxMTU 1500

All other values are blank. I AM USING CABLENUT V.4.02.0016

SHOULD I UPGRADE! Please advise what I should do to get this connection as fast as possible!!!!!

Thanks!!!!

Yes you need to upgrade to the latest version of CableNut and please tell me your ISPs caps.

:D

ISP caps would be 3500/384, I beleive. Is this what you need ?????

OK great, use the following settings in CableNut:

BcastNameQueryCount - 1
BcastQueryTimeout - 100
BSDUrgent - 1
CacheTimeout - 600000
DefaultRecvWindow - 64240
DefaultTTL - 64
EnableDNS - 0
GlobalMaxTcpWindoSize - 64240
KeepAliveInterval - 500
KeepAliveTime - 14400000
Lanabase - 0
LocalCopyMade - 1
MaxConnections - 100
MaxConnectRetries - 5
MaxDataRetries - 64
NameTableSize - 255
NameSrvQueryTimeout - 100
PMTUBlackHoleDetect - 0
PMTUDiscovery - 1
RoutingBufSize - 146432
RoutingPackets - 100
SackOpts - 1
SessionKeepAlive - 7200
SessionTableSize - 255
Size/Small/Medium/Large - 3
Tcp1323Opts - 0
TcpTimedWaitDelay - 30
MaxDupAcks - 3
DefaultTOS - 92
IGMPLevel - 2
MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server - 20
MaxConnectionsPerServer - 10

VERY IMPORTANT TO DO THE FOLLOWING

1. Under your Configuration tab for your Network settings make sure you have only the needed protocols.

2. Install the vtcp 386 patch and the NDIS Update from here (http://dslnuts.com/patch/index.html).

3. Open IE and select tools - internet options - connections - LAN settings, make sure NOTHING there is checked.

4. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC from the manufacturer. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it is ISP dependent unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL (the instructions are in my Help & Tips link (http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?s=&postid=643301#post643301)). If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware.

5. Clear your temporary internet files.

6. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for atleast 15 seconds.

7. Download and update then do a scan with SpyBot 1.2 (http://beam.to/spybotsd) & Ad Aware 6.0 (http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download) to remove any spyware then install and update SpywareBlaster 1.2 (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/spywareblaster.html) to stay spyware FREE. It is an ABSOLUTE MUST that you use BOTH Ad Aware 6.0 & SpyBot 1.2, don't think you are safe with just one of these apps since one will find what the other misses.

8. Make sure you do the faster web page tweak in my Help & Tips link (http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?s=&postid=643301#post643301).

After doing all of this things slowed down bigtime! I even rebooted. I have done EVERYTHING mentioned above, and the cablenut settings are the same as above!

What should I do? Go back to what I had before?

How much has it slowed down? Try the OOL FTP test in my Help & Tips link and see what you get for speed.

:)

on the OOL test I get 48.6 KB/Sec downloaded average

Multiply by 8 = 388.8 KB/Sec

If it's that low you've done something wrong. What did you set your NIC duplex mode to?

I've tweaked my connection already with cyberwizardpit
however was wondering would it be possible to futher optimize my network settings after reading the posts on the forum. I've also done all the checks already.

I'm behind a router, SMC 7004ABR, Cable connection SCV (http://www.starhub.com/online/maxonline/), my advertise speed is 1500/128, NIC set as auto because of the router.

The average i've got from Speakeasy was about 127kbps/61kbps
I'm able to hit my advertise speed when doing sends and downloads within my country .sg, however speeds i get out of .sg would be slow.

If you're running cyberwizardpit and Cablenut at the same time... they're probably fighting each other. Pick one of the two tweak tools and ditch the other. Cablenut makes a correction to your settings and cyberwizardpit does something that nullifies the change (or the other way around).

The problem with cyberwizardpit is it does a lot of hidden tweaks where Cablenut lets you see each tweak. I had cyberwizardpit and ditched it. Not worth the money.

MadDoc is exactly right;), Cybergizard just charges you money for what you can do for FREE with CableNut, they are a JOKE. What OS are you using?

ohya, forgotten to state my OS, its WinXP Professional
nope, i didn't pay cyberwizardpit, i used the free edition. Heh, after reading quite a number of posts on this forum, i rather use Cablenut with the proper suitable settings :) Thanks alot in advance too :)

ASi_TEK your ...ISP caps would be 3500/384, I beleive
on the OOL test I get 48.6 KB/Sec downloaded average.

1100 Mhz Athlon Thunderbird, Asus A7V motherboard,
128MB RAM pc-133 SDRAM (soon to upgrade to 1.5 GIG RAM),
30gig HD, Win98SE... All win98SE speed patches done,
Cablenut adjuster tweaked to max,
IRQ8 set to priority in "PriorityControl" in registry,
Eliminated @home proxie servers...
agree something is wrong with your settings
speed tests results ~10% CAPS ?????

done the tweak, got a better result this time, average 500/64, still far from the 1500/128
previously was 127/61, however i've noticed something, when sending to cable users on the same network as me, previously was able to reach 104-120, but now i can only do about 61-64
