Hi there all,
I just got the best result I could ever wish for. Put a router in my network, got it going and then forgot all about it.
And then it hit me...I couldn`t see my wifes `puter in Explorer.
Very strange....so I clicked on "Setup local network" or whatever the translation is from Dutch and XP installed a network bridge for me......OK I can live with that BUT why the bridge?
Hey presto all is well again.
Don`t get me wrong. After testing @ toast.net my max downloads increased from ± 600+ to 1300--1500 Kbps which is caps anyway. My uploads are @ about 90% of caps @ 118Kbps

Any ideas anyone.

Puter is a 633Mz processor. 512Mb memory. 2X 46Gig HD`s..
E-Tech router and a com21 kabelmodem.

OS is XP

Nothing special at all...

Greetings from Holland.

PS I`ve rebooted many times and I`m always hitting my caps or thereabouts.
Now I`ve hit my caps all the fun of trying has been taken away.

Do you have two NICs in the system you are using?

Sure do but the second NIC is disabled `cause I have another network connected to it. On the second network which is invisible to the Internet because the NIC is disabled I run my personal stuff in Windows 2003 RC2 and W2K on the other PC in this network.
I think that the network bridge has been activated because XP sees the router and recognizes it as another segment of the total network.
