I am now getting comcast cable internet service today. I bought a self-starter kit but it doesnt look like I need it.
The computers I'm using on the system will are from other locations that have comcast cable modem service.
Do I need to install any Comcast softwares?
My PC's are setup for 94% System Resources when booting up and I DO not need any other stupid (spyware) type programs on these machnines!
My Cable modem, Wired/Wireless Turbo router and USB 2.4ghz adpaters are all made by SMC networks.
Please advise on this! I need to know if I just call them and then connect the computers. I dont want to use any of there stupid options or services.

I believe as long as you already have your wireless router set up than all you have to do is plug your cable modem into the wan port on your router than turn it on and let it power up. Thats all you should have to do for internet. I am assuming you already have set up a home network to comunicate with your other puters,, but that isnt neccesary for internet.
Afterwards,, you might want to read throught the posts and instructions here for optimizing your broadband connection.
happy high speed bud!!!:D

dont let them install ANYTHING, just ask them to run the lines, verify cable modem connectivity(sync) and you will do the computer part(make sure you tell him you will sign off on the work order). Then just jack the ethernet out from cable modem into wan port on router, reboot router, reboot computers and voila.

Exactly what he said.
You don't need any of the Comcast Software that installs "System solution fixing Spyware software" that automatically keeps your system working perfectly (yeah right, LOL LOL LOL)
All the comcast technician needs is your MAC address of your Modem and of the PC which will be connected.
If you use a router, clone the Mac address from that same PC into the router, to avoid any interuptions in your service.
