New web server and Comcrap!

Has anyone ever had a problem hosting your own website with comcast? They say you can't do ftp,http,email or anything! Just wondering if anyone has heard of them terminating some ones service?

Check your firewall/router logs. You will see regular scans fro a comcast device for the port numbers you mentioned (I did in Alexandria VA). They scan for it, so it's probably safe to assume they'll do something about it - especially when so many folks complain about their service. Running servers can make that worse.

It may or may not be worth $10/month to pay for hosting and keep your cable account.
