That's not surprising. People have been turning pringles cans and other objects into Yagi directional antennas for years.
Other than as a fun science/geek project it's not very useful though. It's not waterproof, and degrades fairly quickly. By about your third pring-yagi you're over the whole concept.

As Bouncer mentioned, people have been doing this for quite a while now, take a look through NoCat (http://nocat.net/) to see antennas made from Pringles cans and coffee cans.
Or just do a serch on War Driving (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=war+driving), and you'll see how many people are doing this.
If you set up a wireless network with all if it's defaults you are setting yourself up for trouble. Even stores such as Home Depot and Best Buy had problems getting hacked, people where getting credit card numbers through the wireless cash register network.

It's not even "hacking"....it's just jumping on for a free ride because some fool setup the network without turning on the safety features. The fast that you can simply find a network, turn on your laptop, and surf the web...that's not "hacking" to me, that's just typical media overhype.
Finding a network, and sitting outside of it for weeks...months...."grinding" away at the encryption that has been properly turned on....eventually getting in ...now that's hacking.
I just don't get the ignorance of big companies such as Home Depot & Best Buy, if what RoundEye said is true... And people are worried about online privacy ?!!
