I know this has been addressed in here on many occasions ... but I am having a problem here lately.

I have Free Surfer Mark II installed on my computer (the one in my sig) and it WAS working great. I had not seen a popup in so long that I forgot they even existed.

Lately ... I am back to getting all kinds of popups. I uninstalled the program and then reinstalled it in hopes that something might have gotten corrupted. Still have the same thing happening. I have even set it to the strict mode.

Any suggestions? Any other one I may want to try? I am ALMOST ready to actually pay for a popup stopper ... if I could be sure that it would actually work.

Maybe there's a new pop-up technology.

I've seen some recently that change their address by 1 digit or so each time it comes up.

I know I am getting sick and tired of seeing them all the time. I was so happy when I installed Free Surfer Mark II and did not have any ... now they are back again. Nothing sux worse then popup after popup when you are online.

You don't need a popup stopper. Just disable active scripting in IE securty, re-enable it for only those sites you need it.

Or just use PROXOMITRON :D

If it's the windows messenger service, disable it.

Yeah, exactly what kind of pop-ups are you now getting?

This is one ... JIMMY SURF (http://www2.jimmysurf.com/select/brefscott.php?refererusername=tokugawa2&specialcode=15984004)

Here is another that has attached itself to the bottom of my browser. I can hear a single beep everytime I launch IE ... POPUPBAROPENER (http://www.tfil.com/passthrough/popupbaropener.html)

I have tried to find out where this one is tied into my browser ... but have had no luck. I have looked in the registry but not able to find it. I have tried to do a search for its name ... still nothing. It is tied into the launching of IE.

I am including some pictures of what the popups look like. Check back as I will add more as I get them.

Did you try AdAware 6 yet?

I have not gotten that yet ... I do have version 5.XXXX on here now. Does the AdAware 6 do something different? I can run AdAware and get rid of stuff when it is on my computer. I want something to stop it from getting there in the first place.

Like I said before ... I was VERY happy with Free Surfer Mark II when I first installed it ... but now it barely works.

A lot of that kind of stuff requires user approval before it installs... know I've mistakenly clicked "ok" to something I thought was a Windows pop-up before.

Yeah, AdAware 6 has very recent updates for all the newest spyware crap, and has a better scanning engine.

I GOT IT FIXED !!!!

I do not even want to tell you how I fixed it ... because what caused it is frowned upon in here.

Let's just suffice it to say that I had to do some heavy registry cleaning to get it fixed. Seems to be back to normal ... :D

Thank you everyone for trying to help me get this straightened out.
