Well i'll be damned

I consider myself pretty good at keeping my computer secure against viruses and hackers. I started reading this forum about 2 days ago and heard of a program called AVG from you guys :P So I decided to give it a whirl (I already have norton antivirus 2002 installed) I ran it and it found 2 viruses which pretty shocked me, b/c Norton didnt pick up on it :( The 2 viruses are:


Trojan Horse MusicSearch

CKTCKQ~1.EXE

Trojan Horse MusicSearch

XOASCK~1.DLL

I hear this is a pretty new virus considering I went and did a search on google and not much info came up on it. Anyone know what this virus does? AVG healed it. Makes you think which would be better to use? I will consider using both now Lol :)

I heard of a few different times that AVG found things that NAV didn't find. Makes ya wonder. BTW: What type footprint does AVG leave on your sys?:)

Never heard of that one, but since it's a trojan you may want to run AVG from Dos, or Safe mode depending on your OS

AVG runs very lean, don't even notice a resource hit.

I don't think any 1 virus app does a thorough job, always a good idea to scan drives with a variety of them.

One other thing to remember, Antivirus programs are just that, Antivirus. Trojans are not always found with Antivirus programs. You may want to look into a good Anti Trojan program as well. ;)
