I have several programs that put little icons in the lower right of my screen, by the clock - but I can't see all of them. Started having problems after changing firewalls but not sure that has anything to do with it. I am using windows XP pro on a Compaq 1920 laptop. I can see the clock, the Windows Messenger icon, the Sygate personal firewall icon - but I can't see the Incredimail icon, the Yahoo Messenger icon, or the pop up stopper icon. There may be more I can't see, but I can't see them  .
I have tried unlocking the taskbar, etc. I have run out of Ideas - anybody got any?
In the system tray along with the visible icons, there is an icon (sort of) that has arrows. Click that.

Norm,
That Icon isn't there. I don't know what is going on, but I fixed it. What I did was go into the startup area using startman and unchecked all that were not necessary for Win XP. When I started everything manually they all put there little icons in a nice row - visable - just like it was before. Then I went to each program and told it to start on startup. Reboot and - shazam - everything works fine. Could have something to do with me using BootVIS to speed up the boot. Well anyway - Thanks very much for the reply, I appreciate it.
There is an option somewhere to hide/show systray icons. I believe XP will hide some icons after a certain time period.
I forget where I saw that option, but it looks like you're ok now anyway.

Norm,
The option you are talking about - hide inactive icons - is found if you right click on the task bar, select properties, then click the hide inactive icons button. I'm sure, like most things in windows, there are about 2 doz ways to get to this option, but this is the one I use. Do a lot of locking and unlocking of the toolbar, and this is the easiest way I have found to do that.

That's it, thanks. I knew it was close by, but I'm in 98 most of the time and didn't want to reboot to XP.
Kinda bust right now cleaning up my drives of old files etc. Going to move everything off my 20g so I can use it out in the feild if I need to.
