Can anyone help???

I am trying to setup my network with 4 computers. We are using a Linksys BEFSR41 Router and it doesn't seem to be I think working the way it should.

I have installed the software one 1 PC and seems to be working ok when we try and do a security scan. If gives the IP address that is correct. But the other PC's on the network don't come up with the same IP Address...

Does the software for the router have to be run on ALL PC's??

Routers are completely independent of the PC's...they are stand alone. No PC runs software to control the router. You administer the router through a web browser, the "web admin" feature...from all/any PC.

If you have PPPoE DSL, it's best to uninstall any PPPoE software from any computer connected to the router. What did you mean "Installed the software on 1 PC"?

When you do online security scans, the IP address you should see is the WAN IP address that the router obtains from your ISP...(your public IP address) it should be the same IP address seen from a security scan on any PC on your LAN....a long as the ISP doesn't change your IP address in the middle of the scans. The computers on your network each individually obtain a unique private Class C IP address from the router (something like 192.168.1.101, 192.168.1.102, .103, etc etc) Online IP scanners will not see that IP address, nor can anybody looking into your network from the public side....they only see the public WAN IP of the router.

Think of the router as having two sides to it, the WAN side, and the LAN side. It's like the front door of your house sort of speak.
