Hey guys & gals,
I recently downloaded and installed the XP broadband registry tweak. (sguide_tweak_2k.zip )
and everytime I go to read emails on AOL.com I get an irratating error message that says:
"Assertion Failure: Warning: CXWindows Manager is replacing the onunload handler of window ...................ReadMail"
How do I go about fixing this?
Thanks in advance for the insight.

Here is my info to the 6 questions:
***************************************************
1) Cablenut - DONE, I added tweaks for Windows XP-cable fast.
2) Connection type: Cable
3) My service provider is CharterPipeLine, with advertised speed of 786kb/sec.
4) TCP/IP test results:

SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer
TCP properties for IP = XX.XXX.XXX.XX
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0b; Windows NT 5.1)
Note: Read the FAQ if the above is not your IP address.
TCP options string = 020405b401010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 64240
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2569.6 kbps (321.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1027.84 kbps (128.48 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 36 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

5) Speed test results an average speed of 569 kb/sec upload
126 kb/sec download
6) OS - Windows XP Professional

Thanks for you time, it is much appriecated!

OK great use the following settings:
DefaultReceiveWindow = 98304
DefaultSendWindow = 16384
DisableAddressSharing = 1
InitialLargeBufferCount = 100
InitialMediumBufferCount = 240
InitialSmallBufferCount = 320
LargeBufferSize = 81920
MaxFastTransmit = 64000
MediumBufferSize = 15040
PriorityBoost = 0
SmallBufferSize = 1280
TransmitWorker = 32
FastSendDatagramThreshold = 1024
EnableFastRouteLookup = 1
EnablePMTUDiscovery = 1
IgnorePushBitsOnReceive = 0
GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize = 32120
MaxFreeTcbs = 8000
MaxHashTableSize = 16384
MaxNormLookupMemory = 5000000
SackOpts = 1
SynAttackProtect = 1
Tcp1323Opts = 0
TcpLogLevel = 1
TcpMaxDupAcks = 2
TcpMaxHalfOpen = 100
TcpMaxHalfRetried = 80
TcpRecvSegmentSize = 1460
TcpSendSegmentSize = 1460
TcpTimedWaitDelay = 30
TcpUseRFC1122UrgentPointer = 0
TcpWindowSize = 32120
MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server = 10
MaxConnectionsPerServer = 8
DefaultTTL = 64
DisableUserTOSSetting = 0
TcpMaxDataRetransmissions = 6
DefaultTOSValue = 92
VERY IMPORTANT TO DO THE FOLLOWING
1. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need.
2. Open IE and select tools - internet options - connections - LAN settings, make sure NOTHING there is checked.
3. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC from the manufacturer. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it is ISP dependent unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL (the instructions are in my Help & Tips link (http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?s=&postid=643301#post643301)). If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware.
4. Clear your temporary internet files.
5. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for atleast 15 seconds.
6. Download and update then do a scan with SpyBot (http://beam.to/spybotsd), anything checked in red is spyware and safe to remove.
7. Make sure you do the faster web page tweak in my Help & Tips link (http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?s=&postid=643301#post643301).
:D ;) :cool:

Dr. Tweak,
I made the manual tweak configurations using CableNut.
Thanks for the #'s.
BUT my problem with the error message STILL exists.
I did everything you listed above.
When I read emails on www.AOL.com (aol website) I get the following messsage:
"Assertion Failure: Warning: CXWindows Manager is replacing the onunload handler of window 104329365879_ReadMail"
What could possible cause this?
Also, I was trying to re-set my tweaks by downloading the "default" tweak on the homepage, BUT the application does NOT exist! I only see the "read me" file for it..... where can I get the program to retore my defualts? I was hoping that maybe if I undo my tweaks, the problem would go away....
Thanks for the help.:cool: :(

Deleting all the entries in the cablenut program will take you back to the windows defaults. But what you had in your registry before you started tweaking may not be the windows defaults.
You seem to have followed all the instructions except the most important of all. Backing up your registry is the best way to turn back the clock.
Do you have a restore point you could use?

Norm-
No. I do not have a restore point availible. Damn it. :(
Also I didn't back-up my registery before making the tweaks. Did I screw myself? I am just getting frustrated with reading emails now.
On the plus side, my internet connection seems to be doing well.
BTW- your avatar is funny!
Anyother ideas? Anyone?
Damn "Assertion Failure"!

:p OK I'm a *******....
I recently installed a program called "Bazooka Bar" to protect me from those annoying pop-ups...
It works well. Well, I disabled the pop-up blocking feature, and the dumb error message hasn't showed up yet.
So maybe that is my problem.....
Just thought I'd let you know.
Thanks again for those who responded.
~Joe:)
I find it dificult to believe the tweaks have caused this error. They don't affect anything but TCP settings. The error may just be a coincidence and the AOL mail server is down right now.
Hard to tell, as I don't use AOL. If I were you I wouldn't start changing a lot trying to fix this just yet. Wait a day or 2 just in case it is the AOL mail server.

~Joe:) There you go, that thing is probably spyware and is causing the problem.
Go get a copy of Spybot search and destroy to remove it completely.
