I was winging around on a "happy" type web site, when my
AVG poped up a window saying that it found "Download.Small" Trojan in my Temporary Internet Cache File Folder. I did a scan with Norton Anti Virus 2002, Trend Micro's "Housecall online Virus Scanner" and Anti-Trojan Ver 5.5. program.
All updated, and none of them found this trojan. In fact, AVG kept poping up while the others past this file on by. The file was labled as MP3_1_~1.EXE
I'm still trying to find some info on this trojan but haven't found any yet. If you find any info amongst your travels, let me know with a post here.
Thanks!
Shinobi
my avg found the same trojan tonite also while surfing the web ive been searching for information on it but found nothing yet
That really only says that the others haven't set that Trojan in their updates yet.
Way to go AVG!!!!
Have you changed the filename in any way? Changed case, added a line at all?
Can you check out the Virus Vault and see if it's still there please?
There doesn't appear to be any info on it from my sources either but the search continues.
Croc.
Could you maybe also PM the site link for me.
Thanks.
no it hasnt changed anything that i can find yet its still in the vault
from the AVG Help File for the Virus Vault.
The AVG Virus Vault is a special directory that stores infected files. The name of the files are changed and their content is encrypted so they cannot be used and virus infection cannot spread. It is almost the same as ordinary deleting techniques; however, the AVG Virus Vault gives you the ability to restore the files, if necessary.
You scanned with the other AV programs after AVG had grabbed this file. Given the Virus Vault explanation above it's no wonder the others didn't pick it up.
What would be interesting now if you are up to it is to use the "Restore" option on the file held in the Vault, shut down AVG through Control Panel and then scan with ONE the other programs you used (prefer Norton 2002 after the latest update is installed.) This is your choice. If you don't want to..... don't.
See how you go.

Shinobi...
The site you found this trojan on. Can you PM it to me?
BTW djaky...
Nothing bad happened with visiting the site you suggested. AVG didn't go off at all, but then my system has some other anti cyberterrorism protection set up and my modem has a condom fitted to it just for that final touch. ;)
The link was interesting, thanks. I think I would rather wait till I saved the money and go in and buy what I needed, but that's just me.
Done with this.

Croc,
I sent you that URL VIA a PM to you.
Before AVG put the Trojan in it's "Vault"
I scanned it with Norton 2002, with the Newest Sigs.
PLUS, I try Anti-Trojan 5.5 with the newest update. Both didn't detect the Trojan, only happy AVG did. :D
PM me back.
Shinobi.
