I know of nothing that will hide it in mIRC. The only way I know is through a proxy and I know that won't work for what your doing. Sorry.

Yes there are ways, but I know of no reason except to do some immoral or unlawful things.
I said yes, but in fact it goes further then blocking the IP you actually can mask the ISP. Many of the terrorists are using it today to keep from being detected and even the Government cannot find them unless they get slopy, but it usually hurts someone else in the process. By the way I am not suggesting that you are a terrorist since you would most likely already know how to do this, but keep in mind there is no honest reason to mask an IP. Also even While security is an issue today hiding an IP is not necessary to be secure. Keep in mind that even using a proxy you are not hidden. Someone has your information and can use it at will or share it with others. I am not going to give out how to hide the IP and ISP since in my opinion it is for the carrying out of immoral or unlawful activities.

I guess you are saying a hell of a lot there Blebs with those few words. :D

I really hope you don't believe that by using a proxy or any other 'tool' to cover, your tracks you will be untraceable. Maybe you should do a bit of private research on this.
JMHO :D

If my house was hidden from the post office, I wouldn't expect to read much mail.

As I said there is a way to be totally hidden, but it is unethical even though there is no direct language in the laws against it. While the laws on this are vague one can be prosecuted under the home security act with some limitations since they stretch things as well as have some power that has not been allowed before.

Now Croc you know full well that you can dip your modem in invisible ink and presto, your camouflaged and no-one can see you. I think it was you that taught me that too. Shame on you! :D

Oops, sorry Blebs. Forgot. ;)

Even greED is in need of assistance. He forgot where he was. :D

saved... yes, you are right. There is also a huge amount of info on what one has to do for (?)invisibility(?) on the internet. Just bear in mind that records are being kept in the form of logs at ISP's. I am sure you will find these logs will start to pop up in courts all over the place. Home Security legislation will see to that.

I think Blebs was being rather subtle . Ain't that right Ross?

Croc.

Just checked for my bottle of Invisink, Ross.
Guess what.... it's nowhere to be found, even by feel. :rotfl:

Hey did you know that if you sprinkle fairy dust in your coffee, it creates more bandwidth? :D

Newbie111, I'm not making fun of your post. I'm just funnin with the Croc master.

Neither am I Newbie111.

to prove this I am giving you a suggestion... no ... better!!!

Copy / Paste ... "hiding an IP" ... (including the " ") into a www.google.com searchbar. The results from that will almost certainly give you what you want to achieve. It should give you 2 pages of links on the subject.

Have fun.

Fairy dust eh. I know one of them fairies. Don't know about putting it in my coffee though. :D My "width" is worrying enuff now.
(:rotfl: now, Ross.)
Now look at what you've made me do!! Tinkabell just dropped in, saw my post and flew away cussing!! Such language, Tink!!!! tsk, tsk.

i have a question.. on the site i came to when i searched with google "hiding an IP" it showed me what it could find out about my machine.. it reported this wrong tho.. it says in running nt when im really running xp.. anybody know why?

XP is NT 5.1, W2k is NT 5.0 - these are all internal to microsoft.

Nothing done electronically is untraceable given the resources.

cyberskye has it right.

Even if you mask or change your ip you're still subject to being tracked down from multiple directions.

Consider the following scenario and counter.

Croc goes into blebs machine, and using some trojan posts naughty pictures here at Speedguide. "Oh no", you exclaim, "I can only track him as far as blebs!"

Not quite. Once I've backtracked to blebs and realized it couldn't be him cause he only has barney pics on his PC, I go to his ISP and see what traffic has been incomming to him during the target period. I then say okay.. at the same time blebbs was uploading pron, lots of packets were coming from over here...

And I go voer to Crocs house and tell him to knock it off.

Understand though, that now a days, this vectoring isn't being done by hand.. there are more and more counter-intrusion programs that automate these searches.

Here's one little gem...
http://www.defenselink.mil/news/Aug2000/n08142000_20008144.html

"Skroch compared EMERALD to the security at a military base. A guard at the "front gate," such as a firewall, can stop intrusions coming in that way, he said. EMERALD, however, also implements sensors or detectors around the computer network on different machines -- all can detect anomalous behavior, misuse or other incoming attacks.

"By having all those sensors come to one central point, you are able to see a coordinated attack much more easily," he said. Because system administrators can see the whole scope of a cyberattack in real time -- as it happens -- they can better defend against it. "

thx a lot

of course its possible
u have to use bouncer (bnc)
lets say your ip is 24.33.21.21 so on irc (when u use bouncer) its gonna looks like (depends of vhost's of course) :
give.me.a.free.shellaccount.com
or
all.of.the.l337.hax0rs.use.lihnucks.a.net
or
a.b.c.d.e.f.g.h.i.j.k.l.m.n.o.p.q.r.s.t.u.v.w.xy-z.net
or
when.I.f*****d.your.girlfriend.she.screamed.so.loud.that.everybody.was.looking.in.back-yard.org

and so on .... :D
all u need is shell account and ur safe on irc ...

u can find shell provider list here :

http://www.egghelp.org/shells.htm

ps:70% users on networks like dalnet, efnet, stealthnet r using bouncers ...why?cuz its safe ...and no one is thinking they r doing something illegal
