Is genome easier to run than folding? / is it less as hard to work on?
The short answer: NO
The long answer: Both (as well as any other dstributed computing project that I know of) use the IDLE cycles of your processor, only and all unused cycles. What that means to you is, the CPU will be used 100% at all times, just that all your programs and processes get priorty over folding, so it doesn't slow them down.
