I have done some research and i believe that if the file services.msc is copied from the windows 2000 cd rom (or from the internet) my computer can be restored. Does anyone know where this file is on the windows 2000 cd? (I'm using windows 2000 sp3) if anyone knows how i can get this file please let me know. Thank You
can't find it my w2k cd...did you try uninstalling sp3?

i can't uninstall anything (that's disabled too)
Go to start-run and type this, C:\WINNT\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst\spun

Boot from the CD and hit enter to set up, Then when it finds your copy of win, It will give you another option to repair. If you use that Repair it will reinstall all of win, And you will not lose anything:) The first Repair is The Recovery Console.:(

already tried it....s/he said it didn't work! look at other thread.
we've been hosed Davey, we've been hosed!
What's the probem with the system? It may be easier to fix than looking for a file that does not exist on the cd.
