i used computer management (in windows 2000 professional sp3)to stop certain system services (i stupidly disabled many and now I can't cut, copy,or paste... i can't search for files...i can't view the winnt folder or any of it's subfolders and worst of all when i go into computer management to enable the services again, i click on them and nothing happens. Does anyone know how I can restore the system services to their defaults (i am unable to use the computer management console) Any help would be much appreciated (PLEASSE I don't want to spend days redoing windows 2000. Thank You.

have you tried a repair? boot to the cd like you're going to install and choose the repair option - should set everything back to default - theoretically ;)

just tried it. It didn't restore the defaults. any other ideas?
You can try uninstalling SP3 and it restores to the point before you installed it...only if you selected Backup when you installed. After you get everything repaired, then reinstall SP3.
To get rid of SP3, you can either restore from a pre-SP3 backup or completely reinstall Windows 2000 from scratch. If you selected the Backup Files field, you can safely back out SP3. If you deselected the check box from the Backup Files field before starting the SP3 installation, or if you deleted this directory from your server, you’re out of luck. You won’t be able to uninstall the service pack.
When you select the Backup Files check box, SP3’s installation program creates a backup directory named $NtServicepackUninstall$ in your Systemroot folder (normally C:\WINNT\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst\spuninst.exe). This is where SP3 copies all of the files that it's going to replace.
No guarantee it will work, but it's worth a try at this point!
Good Luck
