I currently have a cable modem to a D-link router and an 8 port hub with 7 computers on my home network. I am thinking of switching to DSL with multiple ip's. How would i set this up? Would i get rid of the router and just need the hub, and how do i set up the ip's on each computer? This will be used for on line gaming and also hosting the games on 1 of the computers.

Each computer would have PPPoE software and get it's IP from the ISP...yes just use a hub, or a switch, install PPPoE software on each computer. DSL modem and all computers plugged into the hub/switch.
But why are you getting rid of the router though? Provides nice protection for your LAN.

not sure if i have to get rid of router, can i keep router and still use multiple ip, I have to have more than one ip so i can host a game and be able to go into that same game from another computer on the Lan and be able to play.

I've always used a single IP, I used a router, and I can host online games, and yet still play from another computer on my LAN. You just do a search for LAN games from the other workstations. I've done this in UT, Q1, Q2, Q3, and Rune.
Single WAN IP from my ISP
Router
Network of a half dozen computers on the LAN side.
Forward correct ports for the game on the router to the "server" to let the public in.

How do i find the port of the game, and foward the port on the router to the server??? Also, i play deta force Task Force Dagger by Nova Logic and when i talked to them on the phone they told me u can't join the game from the same ip address.

Take a peek here for some forwarding info:

Yes some old games don't work with multiple clients playing from the same IP address on a public server, but if you're running your own server, it works, because your LAN IP will be different.
A list of some ports:

pitbull There is more than one way to set it up. But first I would look at replacing the hub with a switch. A hub doesn't do a good job as a gateway for the Internet but it will work: read this

How many IP will you have? If you have only two ip's and a 4 port router with 7 computers you will need to add a switch, hub or router. Here why, if you set up modem to 8-port hub then anything you plug into the hub will need an IP.If you set up modem to router then you only have one ip. If you set up from the modem to the hub and run one line to the router and one to a computer you would have two IP but if you only have a 4-port router then you would only have 5 computers on line. You could set up a proxy server but with 7 computers it would be slow.
The best way to go with two Ip's would be to get a nexland pro800 turbo. It will give you two IP and 8 ports. The set up would be modem to hub or switch and two lines to the router wan ports.
But that about $400.If you don't want to put out much money get you a 4 port switch ($35) and set up this way. From the modem to the 4 port switch one line to the router and one line to a computer. From the router a line to the hub and put all the other computer on the hub or router. The computer on the switch will have an IP and the router will have an ip.

You need a lot of good luck to run few computers with Software PPPOE communicating between them.
A possible compromise is to maintain the Multiple DSL IPs and get a Router like the SMC VBR7004 (about $50). This Router can put 10 computers in the DMZ, providing you have external IP for each.
