Hey People i got me a real nice problem. Whenever i am on the internet a file is created on my hdd called program just that nothing more. Well this file is kinda irritating since it stops use of many other programs like my winfast tuner software, also my norton antivirus doesnt work anymore when that file is created. When i reboot windows xp it tells me that this file creates problems and asks me if it should rename it. Norton doesnt load then neither do my winfast tv tuner drivers.

Please help!

Thanks in advance

I am not familiar with that. Have you run something like
Ad Aware, Spoybot S&D, or Pest Control or to see whether you have some kind of spy ware?

Spybot SD would be the first d/load & scan, IMO. (http://security.kolla.de/) Make sure you check Spybot for updates before you scan with it. Reboot after the update d/load.

Then try the online scanner at Symantic. (http://security.symantec.com/ssc/home.asp?j=1&langid=us&venid=sym&plfid=20&pkj=UWITCVGZBZTVOGXFSTZ)
That should pick up that you have Norton. If it doesn't then you may have to reinstall Norton.

You could try the AVG AV program as another alternative if Norton won't do anything. At least that will get you by while you are sortingout the problem. It may actually find what you are looking for.

AVG is here. (http://www.grisoft.com)

Good luck and please post back with a followup or result. Enquiring minds and all that. :D

Croc.

BTW: welcome to SG and maybe this thread could go to the Security Forum (http://forums.speedguide.net/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=30&forumid=46) where it may get some attention and may end up helping someone else. ;)

You have some sort of virus, not spyware. Spyware apps do not create files on the HD nor do they create folders upon connecting to the internet. Spyware apps do not disable antivirus programs either, but some viruses do.
