I'm wondering if there's any cool distributed computer projects out there these days?

I think that's what it's called. What I'm talking about is when a program is installed by a bunch of users on the internet to break up big processes and try and do things like crack encryptions, I think S.E.T.I was one of them and etc. I think I saw one of them prove the highest prime number currently (btw, this does not count as cool in my books LOL!).

Hey this is awesome, I was saying to a guy at work the other day that we ought to be able to do some crunching of the human gene or something. This is that "something"!

I think I'll join.

Thanks.

Any other cool projects like this around?

hmm...
genome@home..

but that is the same thing with v.3+ of the folding client..

it (F@H 3+ client) randomly downloads a G@H or a F@H workunit..
or you can set it to only download G@H or F@H units..
