I just bought a Linksys Wireless Network Access Point Wap11 v2.2 and I am having trouble installing this device. I connected this device to my Linksys Cable 4 port Router BEFSR41 v2. When I insert the Setup CD to run the installation wizard, the wizard fails to locate my Access Point. It keeps telling me to check my connections. I checked over many times already and they were correct.

I restarted my computer a couple of times when for some reason the wizard finally located my Access Point and continued through the installation. I set up my settings and tried to save the configuration when the wizard had to locate my Access Point and failed to locate it again.

Am I doing something wrong or is my device defected?

Thanks

You are running the installation CD from a machine that is wired to the router, correct? Once configured, you can attach wifi.

Are you running DHCP server on the router and the WAP? If so, you may be getting conflicts on the address ranges.

At first I thought that my Access Point was defective so I went out and got a different one. I got the same problem so I called tech support. He walked me through all these standard checking procedures for an hour and still no luck. He flat out told me to just go out and buy a built in wireless function with a router. So thanks for those who even attempted to help me.
