(I copied this thread from general section)

I decided to get to folding late last night on all my home computers, as up until now I was only folding at work on my P4 1.7GHz compaq.
The only computer not folding is my 2nd PC(the wife's) down in my sig.. which will be folding as soon as I get it cleaned up a bit..

That will bring me up to a combined total of 4.8GHz of processing power that folds 24/7, for SG of course! w00h00!:D

All mine are folding 24/7 too. A duron 1.2ghz and a XP 2400+. I crank out more than someone with 4 P4's :D

Woohoo! We can always use the boost!

For those of you that are new to folding remember that you can get a custom title if you want since you are part of the team. :)

Oh yeah?, How? I was always curious about that, as I see it on alot on other ppl'z avatar and I have been hanging out at SG for about a year or so and started folding since a few months ago.

guys, I'm no expert on folding yet, but I believe my score is beginning to look decent already... Jumped from 151 - 144th on our team just for today, or at least last I checked.. Now I have a score of 25.2 with only 3 WU and two more are here folding into the last 30%.., plus got the wifey's overclocked duron @1.333Ghz now chuggin' along so I'm folding at full capacity unless I start folding on more PC's at work, but I have to stay outta trouble with that one .... :D

I'm will announce my custom title when the time comes...;)

HawaiianGhost,

Just send a PM to an admin. I know Ken or Phillip can take care of it but Downhill and some others may be able to point out other people that can take care of it.

Having a score of 25 is quite an achievement, especially having already returned 3 WU's. And it didn't take you months to get there either, so I assume you will be rocketing up into the top 40 in no time.

top 40 here I come!

after completing a WU last night while I was at home, my work computer is 57% through the next one already.. When I left this morning my home computers were chuggin' along.. with mothership IV @ 82%, wife's PC @ 42% PII266 @ 28% & the struggling P133 @ 6%....

got tha clock cycles churnin' fellas! Only started folding at FULL capacity for about 36 hours now and the WU's are foldin' away.. :D

edited later: make that 4 WU's complete w/ another one on the way possibly later tonight.. :D

w000h00!! look at 'dem WU's fold away!!

5 now, 2 today alone w/ a 3rd right around the way.. going for 3 in one day..:p

too bad I didn't get any points for the last one... my score stayed practically the same.. just increased WU's.

Some times the stats take a few hours to completely come through.

As each WU has a time limited on how quickly it must be returned, you may find that the P133 is not capable returning the WU's in the required time limit. Ie. Stanford will discard your results and NOT credit you for any contributions that were made after the time limit expired.

I own a P200 and found that many WU's were not possible to be returned in time.

I was wonderin' about whether or not the P133 was even worth folding... its only made it to like 9% since it started along with this thread.. :(

The PII266 is right at 35%, but it wasn't up and running the entire time... I think it may be able to turn some in if I keep it running..

Meanwhile the other 3 CPUs are foldin' along fine..:)

There is no doubt that a PII and above will meet the deadline, I just believe that Pentiums 200 and below are sometimes too slow. When I tried my Pent 200, a WU that had a 10 day time limit was going to take me 250 hours to complete. So a Pent 133 would have even less of a chance.

You can still use the slower computers for genoming, because that project is not really time critical as folding. AFAIK you could even disconnect the computer from the internet, use the same work unit 100 times or more (since it will produce a different result each time...) and then connect it to the internet again to send all of the results in. Maybe worth looking into? :)
