Shut off Modem When Not Using?

If my computer is off, does it make any sense (longevity perhaps?) to also power down my DSL modem? Thanks.

DSL can take 30 or more sec, to synchronize.

If you are using software PPPOE, you can switch it off.

If you are using a Router with “keep the PPPOE alive” leaving it on will result in the DSL line functional open all the time.

Longevity in computers? Gizmos usually get outdated before they die!


However, in places like Long Island New York, leaving too many Gizmos on drains the wallet.
