I'm going to see if I get any performance increase by enabling my MTU setting on my Linksys 4 port router (v2)...for cable what is the "ideal" setting?
Thanx

You should see a performance increase going from disabled to enabled.
On the newer versions of firmware's now it's turned on by default...set to 1492 or 1472...forget....haven't had my coffee yet. The latest version firmware can now set it to "auto"...let's the router auto-adjust with the ISP. I think that's on the BEFSR#v2 router....I've setup the BEFSX models lately and notice it's on them.

Cable is generally non PPPoE so the MTU in your router should be 1500 and should not be changed from that.

DSL - 1492 usually works the best.

Only if on PPPoE, if not then 1500 is best.
