I like the new version (v3.24). I used to run the F@H3 Screensaver (v3.14) for WinXP Pro, should I have "un-installed" that before installing the newer one? And also I just started running F@Hv3.24 on my other rig - named "Lil' Beast"- Do I need to adjust the Machine ID to a different one? Or does F@H give it a new one on it's own? I've the two rigs networked together and both have F@Hv3.24 installed in it's own directories on different physical disks.
Sorry for being so n00b at this, but I just recently started to "really" get into this and now got both rigs running 24/7. And a friend of mine saw the F@H screenie thing and he wants to get into it also. Got him to join SG team forums -his handle is NiteDawg- this past weekend while LAN'ng with him. TIA for replies.

Sounds like you've gotten it set up right. The program each time it runs makes a cpu id number and then will go to Stanford and get a wu. So installing it on different computers you don't need to change anything. Just put in your user name and 15 for the team number. Everything I've read about the option of use IE options indicate that your better off answering no to that and then just accepting the defaults given to the next questions. Something about using the IE options sometimes doesn't work correctly. As you didn't uninstall the 3.14 screensaver before installing the 3.24 version (I don't use them so I don't know if there's any difference except for the name) shouldn't have any effect at all. Just another screensaver on your computer that you can go back to if you want.

The machine ID that your talking about is only needed if your running a motherboard that has 2-4 cpus on it. Then each cpu needs to have it's own id when the program is installed. Otherwise you can change it when you install the program or change the settings as you want, but it won't effect anything at all.

Appreciate your getting your friend to join the team. Hope we all have a long and joyful relationship. And if you can talk any more of your friends into joining we will be grateful.

My mind is at ease on getting credit for the projects that my two machines are running. And the Multi-proc explanation clears things up for me as I am still looking around/waiting for a good dual proc mobo/server rig that I plan to build in the future. My future plans should equal to about maybe 5 rigs (one will be a dually - 6 procs total). All will be running F@H when not performing it's "Dedicated" purpose (I'm a DJ/VJ, btw). I have 2 rigs up and running now (bumping weekly proc'z to 3), so 3 more to go!!

Getting friends shouldn't be too much of task either, as I also help a lot of my associates with PC problems/re-formatting and things of the such. Thanx again...

Not many families these days that haven't had at least 1 case of cancer or some thing else take a loved one.

These work units we are doing just might be the first step in finding a cure for something. Don't know of anyone that would skip a chance of maybe saving the life of a loved one. Might be your mother, father, brother, sister, wife, son, daughter, or a grand child.

Lots of luck, and I'm kinda looking into a multiple cpu motherboard also so if you find a good one thats cost effective please post what you've found.

Thanx, and if I do find a decent one [dually mobo] I'll let you know.
I'm actually waiting to see what the [Sledge]HAMMER'z will do as far as price/performance in itself and with price/performance with the older 266 mobo'z (prices will definitely plummet, but what about support?), haven't seen a 333/400 one yet.

Oh btw:
