Hi,

I input the cablenut tweaks as you suggested, and i retested. I now get:

2002-12-30 23:05:33 EST: 1722 / 414
Your download speed : 1722153 bps, or 1722 kbps.
A 210.2 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 414507 bps, or 414 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!

that is a higher upload than before, but my download is slower.... any suggestions to remedy this download prob, but keep the upload?

thnks in advance:

BTW here are my cablenut seetings:

OK please try and stick to one thread so it's easy to follow what has been done and tried.:D Please post a TCP/IP Analyzer Test and what kind of speeds were you getting before?

:D :cool:

Hi There,

Here are my analyzer results:

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 64240
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2569.6 kbps (321.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1027.84 kbps (128.48 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 56 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 01011100
Precedence (priority) = 010 (immediate)
Delay = 1 (low delay)
Throughput = 1 (high throughput)
Reliability = 1 (high reliability)
Cost = 0 (normal cost)

here is a speed test result:
2002-12-31 01:18:13 EST: 1642 / 418
Your download speed : 1642151 bps, or 1642 kbps.
A 200.4 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 418848 bps, or 418 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!

seems slow to me..... any suggestions?

You didn't answer my question........... what kind of speeds were you getting before?

My results before were:

2002-12-29 17:51:14 EST: 3175 / 356
Your download speed : 3175602 bps, or 3175 kbps.
A 387.6 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 356506 bps, or 356 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!

There is no way your speed dropped in half by using the settings I gave you. What do you have your NIC duplex mode set to?:)

Ok,

Before, (the first test) i had the stock microsoft drivers for my NIC, and they had no duplex settings, while after i now have 3com drivers for my 905tx NIC, and i have it set to 100mb/full duplex due to my router. (SMC Barricade)

Is it the drivers maybe?

Try your old settings and eliminate the drivers as the problem, it could be the drivers. Double check to make sure you have the proper ones and the latest firmware for your router.:) :D
