Hello, I have been suicidal lately.

Normally when I format win xp, its going fast (500kbps)

After a week or two, its at 100-200 kbps (i used bandwidth place)

I went on efnet and some guy told me about the patches 2k tweak reg patch and the webtweak patch, i used them was up to 500 kbps, i thanked him and returned to my game, i came back and i was crawling at 200. I went back and we spoke some more, we agreed it was my crappy SiS onboard card, after an hour of hardware tinkering and punching I got my linksys etherfast 100/10 the brand new one in and working, i also had to replace my rj45 because it was acting up, anyways, I searched for others with rogers cable and read the post about the kid from sympatico and now hes on rogers, so i did what the guy mentioned him, but cable nut didnt even have most of the options the guy listed, so i used the cable>high2k from the start menu in cablenut menu, then the things that the guy said that did exist, i put it in cablenut, i restarted went to speakeasy test, got 800kbps and crapped my pants, then i went to bandwidthplace and got 384kbps and started crying again, then i went to broadbandreports and got 500 i was happy but i wanted the 800 again, so then i went back to speak easy and did and now im at 458 , so now, i don't know what the hell is going on. I remmber on my old computer going like 1.2 megs per second like 2 years ago on rogers/@home well rogers bought out @home, so i don't know if they use the same software or something.

Anyways, I have nothing installed on my computer, just the 2 patches the guy on irc mentioned me, and cablenut.

I have a linksys wireless router, the new one with the 2 antenass and also 8 port switch, i really hate it, and i like my little hub that is in my basement that gave me the joy of going 1.5 megs per second but icant put the hub back because my brother wont let me and its just to late.

So what do we do?

Thanks for listening and reading.

A very confused poor child,
Drinian

OK for Rogers internet and XP use the following settings in CableNut:

DefaultReceiveWindow = 192512
DefaultSendWindow = 49152
DisableAddressSharing = 1
InitialLargeBufferCount = 100
InitialMediumBufferCount = 240
InitialSmallBufferCount = 320
LargeBufferSize = 81920
MaxFastTransmit = 64000
MediumBufferSize = 15040
PriorityBoost = 0
SmallBufferSize = 1280
TransmitWorker = 32
FastSendDatagramThreshold = 4096
EnableFastRouteLookup = 1
EnablePMTUDiscovery = 1
IgnorePushBitsOnReceive = 0
GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize = 64240
MaxFreeTcbs = 8000
MaxHashTableSize = 16384
MaxNormLookupMemory = 5000000
SackOpts = 1
SynAttackProtect = 1
Tcp1323Opts = 0
TcpLogLevel = 1
TcpMaxDupAcks = 2
TcpMaxHalfOpen = 100
TcpMaxHalfRetried = 80
TcpRecvSegmentSize = 1460
TcpSendSegmentSize = 1460
TcpTimedWaitDelay = 30
TcpUseRFC1122UrgentPointer = 0
TcpWindowSize = 64240
MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server = 20
MaxConnectionsPerServer = 10
DefaultTTL = 64
DisableUserTOSSetting = 0
TcpMaxDataRetransmissions = 6
DefaultTOSValue = 92

VERY IMPORTANT TO DO THE FOLLOWING

1. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need.

2. Open IE and select tools - internet options - connections - LAN settings, make sure NOTHING there is checked.

3. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC from the manufacturer. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it is ISP dependent unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL (the instructions are in my Help & Tips link (http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?s=&postid=643301#post643301)). If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware.

4. Clear your temporary internet files.

5. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for atleast 15 seconds.

6. Download and update then do a scan with SpyBot (http://beam.to/spybotsd), anything checked in red is spyware and safe to remove.

7. Make sure you do the faster web page tweak in my Help & Tips link (http://forums.speedguide.net/showthread.php?s=&postid=643301#post643301).

Once you do ALL of the above please post a TCP/IP Analyzer test and try the OOL FTP download test in my Help & Tips link. There is no way you are downloading at 500KB/s, your caps are 1500/384 and you a lucky to get 90% of that so you are looking at 170KB/s, and don't expect to get that with a wireless router.

:D ;)

Thanks mnostelle ill post the results soon
woohoo now my average is

«702 kbps

thanks mson!!!

on average on the ftp test i went 85 k per second then 72k so its slowly dropping..

thats pretty good for me i guess :)
but it could be because my other computer espically my mom has spyware, and its very hard to maintain 5 computers at once considering my mom and sister are complete newbs that get like 5000 spam mail in their inbox
